Role of Water in Health and Nutrition
Optimal hydration is a key component for good health so water is an essential nutrient at every age. Water accounts for about 60% of an adult’s body weight. Thirst is the major signal alerting us when our body runs low on water.
How much water we really need depends on water functions and the mechanisms of daily water balance regulation. Water has numerous roles in the human body. Water acts as a building material; as a solvent, reaction medium and reactant.It acts as a carrier for nutrients and waste products. On an average, an adult should drink 1.5 l of water per day, as water is the only liquid nutrient that is really essential for body hydration.
Healthy ways to intake water
1. Mint
Adding mint leaves to water gives it a good flavour as well as it is healthy. Mint helps to soothe digestion.
2. Lemon
Lemon is loaded with vitamin C. Add 3 to 4 slices of lemon and it's ready to drink. It helps keep the immune system ready to fight unwanted viruses.
3. Ginger
Cut some ginger root and mix it with water .Keep it overnight. The water will absorb all the nutrients and you are ready to drink .It helps to soothe stomach bloating and intestinal cramps.
4. Cinnamon
Cinnamon is widely known for its medicinal value mix a stick of cinnamon in water .It cures nausea and intestinal colic.
